Vijay Holds Another Meeting With Governor, Set To Demonstrate Majority In House

  New Delhi: Actor Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor R.V. Arlekar on Wednesday in another bid to convince him that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has the numbers to form a stable government following its decisive victory in last month’s Assembly election. Sources indicate that Vijay intends to assure the governor that he is ready to demonstrate his party’s majority on the floor of the House. TVK has also retained legal options if the governor were to withhold approval for this second request to form the government. The party is working to reach the majority mark of 118 seats, currently falling short by five, assuming the Congress honors its commitment to contribute five of its seats. There is speculation that smaller Tamil parties, preferred by Vijay for smoother coordination, may step in.
